{"id":1162,"date":"2023-06-25T15:08:44","date_gmt":"2023-06-25T13:08:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dotevents.transport.gov.za\/Test.TransportWeb\/?page_id=1162"},"modified":"2023-12-06T11:04:03","modified_gmt":"2023-12-06T09:04:03","slug":"national-public-transport-regulator-nptr","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.transport.gov.za\/?page_id=1162","title":{"rendered":"National Public Transport Regulator (NPTR)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About us<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Public Transport Regulator is a regulatory entity established in terms of Section 20 of the National Land Transport Act, 05 of 2009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">It&#8217;s functions are to<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>monitor and oversee public transport in the country;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>receive and decide on applications relating to inter-provincial operating licenses, accreditation of tourist transport services and any other service designated by the Minister;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>oversee fares charged for public transport services throughout the country and advice the Minister on the making of regulations in relation to fares or fare structures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, the NPTR has a key role to play in promoting a safe, reliable, effective, efficient, coordinated, integrated and environmentally friendly public transport system by developing norms and standards to guide the development of public transport for rural and urban passengers<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Vision<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Promote a safe, reliable, effective, efficient, coordinated, integrated and environmentally friendly public transport system by developing norms and standards as well as regulations to guide the development of public transport<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mission<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To regulate interprovincial public transport and tourism services and monitor and evaluate the implementation of the Public Transport Strategy and the National Land Transport Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Our values are guided by Batho-pele principles and include:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Maintain fairness and equity in all our operations;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stimulate innovation in the public transport sector;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure transparency, accountability, accessibility;
