Minister of Transport, Barbara Creecy and Deputy Minister, Mkhuleko Hlengwa officially led the Road Safety Practitioners’ Colloquium from Wednesday, 02 September 2026 at the Birchwood Hotel & OR Tambo Conference Centre in Ekurhuleni. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Running from 02\u201304 September, the National gathering convened under the theme “Strengthening Road Safety through Collaboration, Innovation and Accountability.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister’s keynote address set the strategic direction, emphasising that road safety must evolve from a government-led programme into a society movement with urgent challenges, innovative solutions, and concrete commitments as  top of the agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the three days of plenary sessions, Practitioners deliberated on pressing road safety issues and showcase forward-thinking interventions.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The colloquium\u00a0 culminated in the adoption of a national declaration and commitments, establishing clear responsibilities and measurable actions to reduce fatalities and accidents on our South African roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
