Check Status of your TRN
The TRN Search Portal is currently being finalized and will be made available shortly. If you are unable to locate your Traffic Register Number (TRN) in the published list, please check again once the search portal is live.
What to do when your TRN is on the Dormant list
To prevent cancellation of your TRN, you are required to submit representations within 30 days from the date of publication of the Notice by visiting your nearest Provincial Helpdesk.
Please bring:
- Temporary Identity Certificate; or
- Unexpired Passport; or
- South African Identity Document (where applicable);
- Temporary Permit;
- Any other recognised identity document;
- Two photographs; and
- Proof of residential address.

Who should use this portal?
Natural persons who obtained a Traffic Register Number (TRN) between 1 January 2000 and 30 June 2023.
What happens if my TRN appears on the dormant list?
You must submit representations at a designated Provincial Helpdesk within 30 days.
Can I upload my documents online?
No, Documents must be submitted physically at a designated Provincial Helpdesk.
How long will verification take?
Verification outcomes will be available within 90 days after submission of the required documents.
